In 2022 verdronken in Nederland 73 mensen, en dat zijn er minder dan gemiddeld de afgelopen jaren. Volgens statistiekbureau CBS waren de slachtoffers vooral mensen ouder dan zestig. Een op de vijf slachtoffers overleed in of rondom thuis plaats.
